Travel Surveys
Analyze household mobility behaviors
Surveys provide a detailed view of individuals’ travel habits within a territory. These surveys collect valuable data on daily trips, transport modes used, and travel purposes.
This information is essential for adapting transport policies to citizens’ actual needs, effectively planning infrastructure, and promoting sustainable transport modes.
We have also conducted standardized CEREMA mobility surveys (EMC²) for 25 years and have carried out nearly one hundred to date.
Certified Household Travel Surveys (EMC²)

surveys
Face-to-face interviews remain a traditional but effective method for collecting detailed data on household travel habits. This approach enables specialized interviewers to visit participants at home and ask detailed questions about their daily trips, transport modes, trip purposes, as well as frequency and duration.
ALYCE has an experienced team of interviewers to guide respondents through the CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interview) questionnaire using a tablet. This method is based on declarative data.
It enables the collection of nuanced insights, difficult to capture using other techniques, especially concerning individual choices and transport preferences.

surveys
Telephone-based household surveys enable interviewers to ask respondents detailed questions about their daily trips, transport modes used, trip purposes, as well as frequency and duration.
ALYCE operates a certified call center with 150 booths located in our Sceaux (92) premises, staffed with a trained team of telephone interviewers skilled in conducting structured and effective interviews. The ALYCE call center is equipped with a proprietary CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview) system.
This method provides access to a wide range of households, including those hard to reach by other means, with great flexibility in call scheduling.
The data collected helps identify relevant travel trends at a fine level of detail.

The CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interview) web-based questionnaire is a modern and convenient method for collecting mobility data — from residents of a territory or users of a specific transport system.
ALYCE offers a secure and user-friendly platform allowing targeted individuals to easily complete the questionnaire online. Designed to be clear, interactive, and engaging, it includes step-by-step instructions to assist participants throughout.
This method reaches a broad audience with high flexibility, letting respondents complete the survey at their convenience. It is quick to implement and cost-effective compared to face-to-face interviews.

Digital survey via mobile app

surveys
In addition to household surveys, the TWYGO mobile application uses GPS tracking to collect trip data from voluntary users. This innovative approach automatically records and qualifies trips, travel purposes, and transport modes used.
ALYCE developed this multi-language app, available on mobile stores. TWYGO is a cost-effective solution for Origin-Destination surveys as it reduces field interviewer needs. By gathering rich and accurate data over several days, it offers a reliable, observation-based picture of mobility rather than relying solely on declarations.
